Two separatist guerrillas making an infiltration bid were gunned down by security forces near the India-Pakistan border in north Kashmir's Kupwara district early Saturday.
Police said the security forces early morning intercepted and challenged a group of heavily armed infiltrators in Gagaldara village near the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto boundary that divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
'The militants were intercepted immediately after they infiltrated to this side, resulting in a fierce gunfight at the end of which two militants were killed. The search operation in the area is still continuing,' a police officer said here.
Arms and ammunition were recovered from the shootout site, the police claimed.
